Row-BOC
The Row-BOC program operates from our boathouse and
dock on Spring Tree Road on the east bank of the West River from April
through October each year. We are looking forward to increasing our
active membership, expanding our educational opportunities, and getting
more people out enjoying the beautiful rivers.
If you were a member in 2008, we hope you will join us again this season
as we grow, and perhaps consider getting involved in one of our
programming committees such as education, fundraising, membership or
facilities. In order to be a sustaining club we need the energy of our
members.
Last winter we acquired a used Vespoli double from William’s College that
is in great condition and will be a wonderful addition to our fleet.
Equipment is expensive and our small fleet of club equipment is growing
slowly. We have received much volunteer skill and labor as we continue to
build the necessary infrastructure in the boathouse. We also added a new
singles rack and dock section this season.
The
Brattleboro
High School students
who have taken part in our junior program have formed a Brattleboro Crew
Club to attract new rowers to the program. A Sweep rowing group has
started rowing Wednesday evenings this summer taking out the coxswained
fours. BOC Rowers are seen on the Connecticut and West rivers from dawn to
dusk throughout the summer and into the late fall in club owned and
privately owned double and single sculls .
Our adult learn to row program is offered each May as a pre-requisite for
membership; or hour-long Private lessons in sculling for rank-beginner to
expert are also available, details can be found
here.
See you on the river!
