A frosty forecast for Friday and Saturday. Our Gomers are out
packing the snow to bond onto frozen trailbeds. Schoolkids and our
volunteer guides have not been deterred by the freeze/melt of the
January thaw.
February Frostings promise more ways to CATCH THE COLD with our club
as winter returns full force. Due to the frigid forecast, the Hut
will not open till 12:30 on Saturday, but there's plenty of icing on
the cake of what our club offers this month for you to have a lick.
Check out the Frostings listed here, bundle up, and come out to play
with us. Winter's Zest beckons! Lick the frosting and let the
icing invigorate you!
Invite a few friends to get involved and enjoy the Frostings of
February with you. The coupon offer below makes it easy for them to
gear up and find out how fun February can be frolicking OUTSIDE.
Not sure about how great it is to feel frosted? Come watch our
Brattleboro Nordic Team skiers compete at the MVL Championships on
Wedensday at Prospect. Come ski or snowshoe with the schoolkids any
weekday afternoon (at 1PM, typically) at the Hut. Get involved and
volunteer to help. Coach Bill Jahn needs a few folks to help stage
a big race in Grafton on February 14.
Remember your participation is what allows us to play in the frozen
precipitation!

WinterZest
WinterZest is a trekking adventure for the young at heart,
consisting of a 4 km ski through open fields, a 3 km snowshoe
through wooded ravines, and a 'mitten pin' pursuit on forest trails.
In this last event, you'll need to decide when to turn for home with
your cache of mitten pins to make it back in time!
Three-person teams may complete the course as an Altogether Team or
in relay fashion. Solo Adventurers are welcome to challenge
themselves too.
The trek route will be adapted to the forecasted winter conditions.
Registration information and updates are posted on the BOC website:
www.brattleborooutingclub.org.
Entry fees are $60/team ($40 if registered by Feb. 12) or $35/solo
adventurer ($25 if registered by Feb. 12). Use of club's rental
gear is FREE and may be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis
for those registered by calling the Hut.

Sunday See & Skis
Discover what's out there-- right in our community's
backyard-- and perhaps pick up a tip or two from a new friend at
these weekly club gatherings.
Meet fellow club members at the Hut on Sundays at 1PM to See & Ski
together. Each Sunday's leader will group those who muster by
interest and ability to See & Ski (or snowshoe) together. Just show
and go!
Club members can check out our snowshoe trails and
try out our new snowshoe rentals for FREE during our Sunday See &
Skis through February 14.

Catamount Treks
As
wonderful and convenient our club trails are as a community
resource, sometimes it's better to get off the beaten path.
Heed the
call to adventure! Join Joe Cook and Green Mountain Club leaders for
treks on the Catamount Trail every weeknd this month. Call Joe at
257-0609 to find out how you can frost yourself and find fab fun for
February!
If you're
up to lead an outing and share your local knowledge of special
places to explore, contact Jan Coplan at 275-7527 or
profrance@gmail.com. It's a great way to volunteer, serve
community, and earn credit.
